Liverpool’s miraculous victory over AC Milan to win the Champion’s League will surely go down in history as one of the most exciting finals ever.
It had it all – a potential 3-nil defeat or worse, a second half fight back lead by Steven Gerrard, extra time, penalties and even an unlikely hero in the form of Jerzy Dudek.

All in all an unforgettable night in Istanbul!

Emma Farrell remembers some other dramatic moments from the football season…
Dyer V Bowyer
A lesson to us all. If you decide to resolve a grievance with a colleague using violence then perhaps it’s best not to do it in front of your manager. Or Chairman. Or 50,000 Geordies. Both players were duly sent off. Rather symbolic of the toon’s season as a whole.

“Lets be having you”
With hindsight, a half time rallying speech after a few too many glasses of wine is perhaps not the best idea. However, there is something approaching genius about Delia Smith’s battle cry when Norwich played Man City (they lost 3-2). Beats her cookery programmes anyway.

Roy Carroll’s “save”
Proof, if you ever needed it, that there is no luckier (or jammier) team than Man U when they are playing at Old Trafford – Mendes’ spectacular volley from the half way line is deemed saved, despite it clearly crossing the line.

Kanu miss
Eh? What? How?! Kanu misses the goal in spectacular fashion in the dying seconds of West Brom's defeat to Middlesbrough. Described as “almost impossible” by new manager Bryan Robson.

Rooney wonder goal
You'd be hard pressed to find a goal more sublime than Wayne Rooney’s soaring volley against Newcastle from 25 yards.

Ronaldinho's toe-punt from the edge of the area against Chelsea in the champions league. Awesome.

Diego Forlan ending up as the top scorer in the Spanish league this season. He couldn't finish his tea when he was at Man U.

Rooney's wonder goal - you forgot to mention that before he hit it, he was jogging alongside the ref having an argument, saw the ball drop and then lashed it in the top corner. Brilliant.

Steven Gerrards last minute screamer in the champions league against olympiakos (i think) that got them into the qualifying stages.

Cristiano Ronaldo crying when Man U were mugged in the FA cup final.

The battle of old trafford when arsenal threw pizza at fergie. Classic.

Arsenal losing their unbeaten run. What a bunch of bad losers.
